Torturing animals on television, do they really get away with this?
May 20th, 2006
Television makers do not seem to care about animal rights. On the Belgian channel KANAALTWEE, they showed how a chicken got tortured by two expedition members of the program Expedition Robinson.
Melvin found two cocks in the wood, tied up to a tree so they couldn’t escape. He showed them to the others, and they decided to eat them. Karin replied: “We will eat chicken tomorrow, even if it’s only to slaughter them. I’ve never done that before, but it seems fun!”. Can you imagine a starting serial killer saying: “Yeah, I’ve never killed a person, but it seems a nice hobby.”
Victim number 1
Melvin started to strangle the chicken. It didn’t work like he expected. They discussed if they maybe could cut over the cock’s throat. Karin: “Are you sure that I won’t see any blood if I do that? … No I won’t do it, I’m afraid I will cut in Melvin’s fingers.” Slaughtering a chicken seemed fun to here, but she’s scared to see any blood. Stupid bitch.
I’ve read somewhere that Melvin is a hunter. Would he really be that unprofessional in his daily business, letting animals unnecessarely suffer? Desperately, Karin gave the chicken a punch with an axe, but it was way too weak to release the poor animal out of this misery. She only hurted it more.
If you really want to see this horrible act, just as a proof, here it is:

Finaly, another expedition member intervened and efficiently killed the chicken.
Victim number 2
I don’t know what happened with chicken number 2, because I refuse to watch this televion program ever again.
In situations like this, the camera/production team should intervene. Animals do not have to unnecessarely suffer because of a survivol game on television! But it seems that only the big money counts.
If you share my opinion, then please respond in this forum: http://www.kanaaltwee.be/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=82.

it’s for these kinds of reasons that you actually ‘need a licence to kill’, which is to say : farmers, slaughter house employees – yes! the rest of the humdrum – nope! (or go follow lessons)
